We get asked who makes our clothes more than almost anything else. Fair question. Here’s the honest answer.

The factory in China

We’ve worked with the same family-owned factory since the very beginning. We’ve been there. Walked the floor, met the people cutting and stitching, seen how they work — and the quality speaks for itself in a way no certificate quite manages.

Family-owned matters more than it sounds. It means the person who answers our emails is the person who cares whether the seams hold. It means we can order in small runs without being told we’re not worth the trouble.

The makers in India

Our cotton starts in India, and so does our second partnership — a small company working with organic cotton grown there.

We’ve met them in person. We haven’t yet been to see them on their own ground, and we’re not going to pretend otherwise. That trip is booked in our heads if not yet in our calendar, and we’ll tell you about it when it happens.

Where the cotton comes from

Our organic cotton is grown in India. From there it travels to China, where it’s woven into the fabric our clothes are made from.

It’s a longer journey than a one-line origin story, which is exactly why we’d rather write it down than round it off. “Made in” is rarely the whole picture with clothing. This is ours.

The paperwork

Every supplier we work with meets recognised global standards — BSCI for working conditions, ISO 9001 for quality management, FSC for responsibly sourced materials, and GOTS for organic textiles.

We didn’t choose our partners because of the certificates. We chose them, then checked. But the checks matter, and you deserve to see them named rather than gestured at.

What we haven’t done yet

We haven’t visited India. We’re a small business run by one person, and some things wait their turn. We’d rather say that plainly than let a nicely worded page imply otherwise.

We also can’t promise our supply chain is perfect. Nobody honest can. What we can promise is that we know who makes our clothes, we’ve met them, and when something changes here, we’ll update this page.
