Size Guide

The short answer: our sizes run by age, they’re cut generously, and if your child is between sizes, go up.

That’s most of what you need. The rest of this page is for when you want to be certain — or when you’re buying for someone else’s child and guessing feels risky.

How to measure

All you need is a soft tape measure.

Height — barefoot, heels against a wall, measure from floor to the top of the head.

Chest — around the fullest part, under the arms, tape snug but not tight. One finger should slide under.

Waist — around the natural waist, roughly at the belly button, tape relaxed.

Head — for caps, around the forehead just above the ears.

Rather not chase a moving child with a tape measure? Take a garment that already fits them, lay it flat, and double the chest measurement.

Clothing sizes

SIZE / AGE MAX CHILD HEIGHT GARMENT CHEST GARMENT WAIST
9 – 12 Months 84cm 52cm
12 – 18 Months 86cm 54cm
2 Years 92cm 56cm 54cm
3 Years 100cm 58cm 55cm
4 Years 108cm 60cm 56cm
5 Years 115cm 62cm 57cm

The columns measure two different things. Height is your child — if they’re taller than the figure, move up a size. Chest and waist are the garment, laid flat, so those numbers read larger than your child does. That gap is the room to move.

Tops in the two smallest sizes have no waist measurement because they aren’t shaped at the waist.

How our clothes fit

Boxy through the body, relaxed at the shoulder, cut so nothing pulls when an arm goes up. Roomy, but still meant to look like it fits.

Track pants and tracksuit bottoms have an elastic waist with a drawstring, so the waist measurement matters less than the height. Adjust and forget.

We build in room to grow, because childhood is mostly growth spurts with the occasional pause. Between sizes, size up — a little extra sleeve now buys months later.

Caps

One size, ages roughly 12 months to 5 years, fitting head circumferences from 46cm to 52cm.

The velcro closure at the back does the work. Loosen it as they grow, and the same cap that fits a one-year-old will still fit them at four. It’s the only piece we make that genuinely lasts four years, which is either good design or a happy accident depending on how honest we’re being.

International sizes

We ship worldwide. Our sizing follows New Zealand and Australian conventions, which map roughly like this:

A KID CALLED ED UK US EU
9 – 12 Months 9–12m 12m 80
12 – 18 Months 12–18m 18m 86
2 Years 2–3y 2T 92
3 Years 3–4y 3T 98
4 Years 4–5y 4T 104
5 Years 5–6y 5 110

These are approximate, as all size conversions are. If you’re between two, the height measurement above is the surer guide.

Common questions

My child is between two sizes. Which do I choose?

The larger one. Our fit is relaxed enough that a size up looks intentional rather than borrowed, and you’ll get months more wear.

My child is tall for their age.

Go by height, not age. If they’re above the maximum height for their age size, move up.

Will these shrink in the wash?

Cold wash, inside out, line dry and they’ll hold their shape. Organic cotton is forgiving. Full details on our Product Care page.

Do the caps fit babies under 12 months?

Usually not — 46cm is the smallest the velcro will draw in, and most babies reach that around a year.

I’ve measured and I’m still not sure.

Email us with your child’s height and age and we’ll tell you what we’d buy. We’d rather answer an email than process a return. Get in touch.
